"I told you, it's a matter of purity, not size. "So that's your vessel, huh? Hard to believe a big guy like you fits into that tiny thing."Įizen arched one eyebrow condescendingly. Laphicet's head poked curiously around Eleanor, seeming torn between joining them or remaining by his master's side. Rokurou seemed to be examining something that Eizen held flat in his palm. Rokurou and Eizen loitered nearby, conversing loudly, while Velvet skulked the outskirts and Magilou… did whatever it was Magilou did. Instead she stood defensively at Laphicet's side, as if she hoped to protect his innocence from these indecent people. The crew was scattered across the deck, chatting idly to pass the time, but Eleanor had nothing to say to these criminals and thugs. Unfortunately, proper civility was in much shorter supply. Their destination of Islegand was still a half-week away, but provisions seemed to be plenty, Eleanor noted, and they could stop at Port Reneed tomorrow to restock if necessary. Fortunately, they had a very good compass. The Van Eltia's sails surged forward on spring winds powerful enough to easily blow them off course if they lost their heading. The morning was cold and full of mist, the sky an ambivalent gray withholding both rain and sun. The day began like any other day of their voyage.
